One thing we do as a family often is go to the beach. It doesn't matter if there is a hurricane coming, if it's raining, if it's hot, or cold, we show up and have a great time. I have been a beach goer ever since I was an older teen and it's always been close to my heart since then.
I had never been to the beach until I was 17 and the moment I saw the ocean as we were coming downhill off the bridge, it sparked so much joy and happiness within me. My best friend and I just started yelling "woohooo" and laughed like crazy with so much excitement.
And then I kept going. I would wear my swimsuit under my clothes at work (I lived in the country, but worked in the city an hour away) and would go to the beach after I got off when I had short days. The beach brought a sense of calmness and serenity and the water was just amazing. It was a place where I felt so connected to God.
When we first got married, I stopped going as much. My husband didnt care for it, so I just kind of stopped going. Then I had my daughter and just sunk into post partum depression. I lost a sense of who I was. I realize now that I kind of stopped allowing myself to be who I was because I was afraid to do things on my own.
But during my healing and as my daughter was about 3 or 4, I started going with her and we just had a blast.
But something interesting happened with the husband, he started working at a new fire department and after working there for a while, he was stationed at the beach! And God kept him stationed there off and on for about a good 3 years. During that time I believe that God was pursing him with the beauty of his creation and after about 6 months, he started to develop a love for the beach.
Isn't it amazing how he works on us so gently that we almost miss that we have been transformed?

Aside from creating, I am an observer, thinker and of course an encourager. I find great happiness in observing what happens around me, what makes people do things they do, what happened in ones life, etc

I mentor runners twice a week, so I get to observe different types of mindsets when it comes to getting someone that doesn't run, to crossing the finish line of a 3 mile race.

One thing I see a lot is that so many don't even know what they are capable of. That was once my truth. I almost settled for simple, easy, comfortable, known, and more. But I was kind of miserable. Actually, I was extremely miserable. We were taught to follow a system of "you're a woman and this is just what you do" but that was really a huge pile of dung!

I knew there was more, but had no clue on how to even get there. I was existing in a place where I was accepting less than what I was capable of. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I somehow got in my mind to do something that was extremely hard for me because I saw someone else work their way through and they didn't die.

I set out to start my own business and started my own journey to become a runner. I didn't know any business owners in my family, much less runners. I definitely didnt have any friends that were entrepreneurs and I had no friends that were runners! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I fought my way to where I wanted to be and go and through the whole process, I learned a lot about myself, mindset and learned perseverance. I learned about motivation and had to motivate myself to keep going.

The truth is we have so much on the inside of us. So much potential and many of us settle. We settle for floating through life. And most of us haven’t even realized our potential. Our potential does not lie within following a system of what everyone else does.

We have been feeding ourselves a bunch of crap! I love you too much to play it safe and not speak truth to you. May we stop giving up and stop accepting less than we are capable of. You are capable of so much more!
